Original Post 12:30 p.m.:

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are out of service for vessels due to an electrical issue in the small locks.

The large locks were closed on November 7 for annual maintenance and the electrical issue has shut down the remaining small lock service.

A maintenance crew is working to quickly resolve the problem. The small locks are closed until further notice.

The large locks are scheduled to reopen after the scheduled maintenance is completed on November 23.

The locks grounds are still open to the public.
