Offensive graffiti found on Ballard buildings

Update: Councilmember Mike O’Brien posted a statement on his Facebook page: “This vandalism and hate speech has no place in our community…. I have asked the Police Department to keep me appraised on their investigation into this destruction. I also ask that all community members redouble their efforts to open their arms and hearts to everyone in our communities, especially those who may feel threatened by the actions of a few.”

Earlier: As many as three Ballard buildings were tagged with anti-Semitic graffiti yesterday. The graffiti included a star of David with the word “Jew,” an expletive and the statement, “Build the wall,” report KOMO and Q13.

The tags were discovered by neighbors near 24th and 65th on a new development under construction and a home for sale.
