What’s on this weekend

It’s shaping up to be another stunner this weekend, with plenty of live music and events to keep you busy. Saturday is the Ballard P-Patch’s annual Art in the Garden festival, with food trucks, gardening advice, and kids activities all day long.

Friday, July 28

  • Exhibition Opening: The Whimsical World of Bjørn Wiinblad at the Nordic Heritage Museum. A celebration of the iconic Danish artist who threw mid-century Scandinavian minimalism out the window and was loved for it. Several large-scale pieces are on loan from Denmark, alongside an assortment of works from private collectors across the US.
  • Live Music:
    • Hotels, Nearby (EP release), and Animal Camera at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9pm $8.
    • Jazz at Egan’s Ballard Jam House (1707 NW Market St). 7pm: Jack Roben Trio, 9pm: Kareem Kandi Band. $10
    • Tape Stacks (EP Release) w/ Greet The Sea & The Hoot Hoots
      Show at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9pm. $10.

Saturday, July 29

  • Art in the Garden at the Ballard P-Patch (8527 25th Ave. NW). This is the P-Patch’s annual fundraiser – featuring over 20 artist booths, live music, the ever-popular pie auction, a silent auction, beer garden, kids’ activities, and more. 11 am to 5 pm, admission is free.
  • Live Music:
    • Jazz at Egan’s Ballard Jam House (1707 NW Market St). 7pm: Victor Janusz & his Summer Crooners ($15), 9pm: Twintet ($10)
    • Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs (A Tribute Night) at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9pm.
    • KEXP’s The Roadhouse & AST present: Charlie Parr w/ Michael Wohl and Guests at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9:30 pm. $15.

Sunday, July 30

  • Ballard Farmer’s Market along Ballard Ave from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Click here to see this week’s specials.
  • “Just Add Yoga” at Populuxe Brewing (826B NW 49TH St) from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The morning begins in the Populuxe Beer Garden with an hour-long, all levels, outdoor yoga practice. Immediately following our practice we will move to the bar for your choice of favorite Populuxe brew. Soak up some sun, get your body in motion, taste some of Seattle’s finest craft beers, and get to know your community!
