Diagon Alley comes to Ballard

A Ballard man has taken Halloween to a new level: he’s built a replica of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley in his driveway. Jon Chambers, 46, has been working on the project for several months at his home across from Whittier Heights Elementary. His creation opens today – just in time for trick-or-treating.

Just in case you don’t understand the scale of the #diagonalleyproject, here are a couple of posers to show it.

Chambers told GeekWire that his two daughters, ages 7 and 11, are both huge Harry Potter fans, which was his inspiration for the project. He’s currently between jobs, and started Diagon Alley as a creative project before his next job. “Really what I love to do is build products in that startup environment,” he told GeekWire. “So this is kind of a creative refresh project for me before I start my new thing.”
