Ballard Locks car prowlers located by police, arrested

Police have arrested two suspects who were car prowling at the Ballard Locks last weekend. The prowlers were found in a stolen vehicle later that day in a Northgate gas station.

When officers responded to the car prowling reports on Saturday, the suspects had left the area, but witnesses gave police the vehicle description and license plate number. The plate came back as a stolen plate from another vehicle.

About two hours later, the North Precinct Anti-Crime Team located the stolen vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, at a gas station in Northgate. Two men and woman were detained and identified — the two men were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrests involving narcotics and identity theft, according to SPD. Several stolen items were found inside the vehicle, including stolen mail, checks, credit cards and IDs. Police also found 10 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin

The two men were booked into King County Jail, but the woman was released at the scene after being identified and interviewed. SPD then impounded the vehicle pending a warrant.
