UPDATE: BHS employee arrested for sexual misconduct

Update: Meghan Miller was arrested on Friday night and is now in King County Jail. Prosecutors have set the bond at $100,000.

Original: Police are looking for a Ballard High School employee who has been charged with child molestation and sexual misconduct.

According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Meghan Miller, who has worked as a teaching assistant and girls soccer coach, has been charged with child molestation in the third degree, and two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Her arraignment is scheduled for January 3, and there’s a warrant out for her arrest. Any information about her whereabouts should be directed to law enforcement.

Seattle Public Schools sent the below message to families of students at BHS:

Student safety is our top priority at Seattle Public Schools. When we learned of the allegation, we immediately reported it to Seattle Police. SPS will fully support the investigation as needed. Because the alleged victim is a student, out of respect for their privacy we will not provide additional details.

Students were also sent a text message alert with details on how to contact police with information, and where to seek support if needed.

    1. In the spirit improving the commentary of this site, hey, I’ll bite. First, feel free to cite whoever on earth said what you wrote… didn’t think you could, so you’re arguing with yourself. Second, we can all agree that child sexual abuse committed by ANYONE – man, woman, or child – is abhorrent, criminal, and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Third, the loaded term you used “toxic masculinity” has nothing at all to do with being a man but everything to do with intentionally weaponizing sex and brutality. So, yeah, that kinda needs to stop (drops mic).

  1. I know the student in question who is the subject of this article. To allow this type of discourse is criminal. I believe that Geeky Swedes are a disgrace to the Ballard community for encouraging children in the community to be joked about and humiliated on this “forum”. I look forward to seeing MyBallard disintegrate into real estate advertising, like all the other “neighborhood blogs”.

I can only believe that you actually think all these comments are hilarious and more important, great for advertising! I think it is time to collect these creepy comments and send them to the advertisers. I, for one, am going to start letting the advertisers know what kind of a creepfest you running here.

    1. Newton – I agree with you that almost all of the comments above are childish and not appropriate. However, I am not sure that the Geeky Swedes have much control unless they monitor the messages every day, I don’t think they do. But should they? YES!
One hope I have is that the people that are posting now can’t keep changing their names or alias and that if they get reported I hope they will be banned from this site. You can report the obvious foul mouthed fools that post utter garbage all the time. I am sure the GS will ban them.
You can report them at tips@myballard.com

    2. What exactly are you referring to? I don’t see any comments where a child is being “joked about or humiliated”.

This site would really be better if people were constantly looking for something to be outraged about.

  2. Valid question:
Is it stupid and reckless to allow someone attracted to the sex they coach to have access to them naked?
Censoring me simply proves this is a valid point, though not politically expedient.
