Monthly Ballard District Council meeting tomorrow

The monthly Ballard District Council meeting will be tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, with a guest speaker from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.

The meeting starts at 7pm at the Sunset Hill Community Association (3003 NW 66th St). As always, the meetings are free and open to the public.

Here’s the agenda for the April meeting:

  • 7-7:15 p.m. Introductions
  • 7:15-7:50 p.m. Andres Mantilla, Director Seattle Dept of Neighborhoods. Several years ago then Mayor Murray significantly changed the way the City engages with neighborhoods in terms of both information sharing and soliciting feedback on projects and programs the City was already undertaking or considering. Under current Mayor Durkan, this trend has continued. Mantilla, appointed by Durkan, will tell us about this new approach, how well it has been working, as well as address your questions and concerns about neighborhood involvement.
  • 7:50-8:20 p.m. Member Organization Updates/Open Forum. Following up from our Jan 2019 mtg, we will have brief updates from several more member organizations. Each organization can give a short (approx. 5 minute) overview – a recap of 2018 accomplishments and a preview of plans for 2019. We’ll try to share meeting minutes afterward on the BDC Facebook page and the BDC web site and post on Nextdoor and My Ballard, so that there’s some outreach to the community. If time permits, there will also be an opportunity for attendees to briefly talk about specific concerns they have, which will help the BDC continue to develop our agenda for 2019.
  • 8:20-8:30 p.m. Other Business/Discussion

To learn more or RSVP, visit the BDC’s Facebook page about the meeting.

    1. This is why we need more education funding.

… or we could Google that for you to discover: The City of Seattle’s official boundaries for Ballard are to the north by Crown Hill (N.W. 85th Street); to the east by Greenwood, Phinney Ridge and Fremont (along 3rd Avenue N.W.); to the south by the Lake Washington Ship Canal; and to the west by Puget Sound.

          1. Freja – you hit the nail on the head there! :) And I hope that “pot” stays empty!

    2. Because Sunset Hill is in Ballard. Ballard sub-neighborhoods; West Woodland, Ross, Adams, Sunset Hill, Crown Hill, Whittier Heights, Loyal Heights, Blue Ridge, North Beach, Downtown/Old Ballard.

  1. It’s a Greater Ballard district. Roughly bounded by 3rd NW, the Ship Canal, Puget Sound, and the access road to Carkeek Park.
