Spring Fling at Gemenskap Park tomorrow

This weekend will be the inaugural East Ballard Spring Fling, happening at the newly created Gemenskap Park.

The festivities will include an egg hunt for all ages between 10am and 1pm. They’ll start with the youngest kids at 10:15am, and phase in the older kids after the young ones get a head start.

In addition to the egg hunt, there will be face painting, coffee, and treats from the Ballard Market, and games, which will happen at the north end of the park.

“Bring your neighbors, friends and family, and enjoy a fun morning in the park,” the organizers write. “Bring the sun with you too while you’re at it!”

  1. Delighted to see that no tents have sprung up in this park. The city CAN enforce its no camping laws when it wants to. Can you imagine a series of tents blocking a bike path? Wouldn’t happen. Yet those businesses along 14th NW just south of Market somehow don’t count, so tent cities can take root right outside their front door. So much for the city valuing working people.

    1. Wolfgang – have you been riding on any of the Seattle bike trail recently? There are tents right at the edge of the trails and trash on the trails from those camps and nothing is being done about it. And what tents are blocking 14th? There are about 4-5 tents on the planting strips south of Market on 14th. What are you actually talking about?

      1. Wolf was correct, the tents/tarps/trash on 14th were blocking the sidewalk. But they were all moved out on Friday. And guess what? Several were back yesterday, near Safeway and Bardahl. If we don’t enforce the moves, what is the point?

      2. Another anti-homeless rant by VeganBiker. I know the suffering of these people is such an inconvenience for you, but please try having a little compassion.
