In a bizarre attempt to earn some money, a man tried to steal $15,000 worth of bidets from a Fremont toilet supply store.
According to the SPD Blotter, in March, a man called the store and ordered 10 high-end bidet toilet seats, which are valued at $1,500 each. After the store sent the shipment on April 10th, they learned that the purchase was made with a fraudulent credit card. Not long after, they found the bidets listed on Offer Up, and notified police on April 25th.
Police then contacted the seller and set up a meeting to buy the bidets at a package shipping store.
This is where things get a little complicated: the man who originally ordered the bidets had them sent to the package shipping store, but never turned up to retrieve them. So when police arrived to the store, expecting to find the suspect who had ordered the bidets, instead it was a shipping store employee who thought they could make some cash by posting the bidets for sale online.
Police seized the bidets and returned them to the Fremont toilet supply store. They say they’re still looking for the original toilet seat scammer.
