Rock’n’Roll Marathon to pass through Fremont and Ballard on Sunday

Between the Ballard Crit on Saturday and the annual Rock’n’Roll Marathon on Sunday, it’s looking to be a busy weekend in Ballard.

The marathon starts and finishes at the Seattle Center, and the course (map) will lead runners from Fremont northwest on Leary Way to head south over the Ballard Bridge, then southeast back along the Ship Canal and back to the Seattle Center via Nickerson and 3rd Ave W.

The half marathon ends after the initial loop, but full marathoners will head back north on Aurora all the way to Green Lake and back.

The marathon starts at 6:30am, and runners will likely be out on the streets through the early afternoon.

There will be a number of lane closures throughout the course to accommodate the marathon, and all northbound lanes will be closed on Aurora from 6am to 2pm. Streets will remain open, but there will likely be congestion until the course clears later in the afternoon.
