Norwegian folk dancing and wild salmon dinner at Leif Erikson Lodge

One of Ballard’s most Scandinavian events is happening soon: Norwegian folk dancing and wild salmon dinner are coming to the Leif Erikson Lodge in August.

The highlight of the evening will be a music and dance performance by Folkedanslaget BUL Tromsøand Bodø Folkedanslaget from northern Norway. After they perform, there will be a public dance with instruction and local Norwegian musicians.

The dinner will be on Wednesday, August 14 — the dinner starts at 6pm and performances begin at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 6-12. Proceeds benefit the educational programs of Norsk Folkedans Stemne, a nonprofit dedicated to Norwegian music and dance.

    1. Since tickets are available to people of all races without even a questionnaire to determine their whiteness, you should buy ALL the tickets and force POC to attend. That is where you’re going with this right? It isn’t about people attending events that appeal to them but forcing people of color to attend events that you see as lacking diversity.

Huh, that sounds kinda Nazi when you look at it, but if it makes you feel better…

While you’re at it, you should be going to kids’ sporting events and demanding the parents reveal their children’s’ ethic makeup and socioeconomic status. Remember to demand proof!

        1. Please produce evidence that not all people are welcome to come Norwegian Folk Dancing at Leif Erikson Hall? Please explain the difference between being invited and welcomed while you’re at it.

I’ll wait. Just as I continue to wait for you to back up any of the other ludicrous attempts at inflammatory dialogue you have commented on this blog.

          1. Well clearly no one with just the slightest hint of diversity feels welcome there, take a look at the photo.

    2. The only thing worse than your insensitivity IS your HYPER-sensitivity PERIOD. Sad and troubling this AOC type of BS you now want to foist on us here. This IS Ballard’s history. Your white guilt won’t change history. My Grandmother came from Norway in 1889. Still live in her home too! Should I feel bad about my “whiteness”?

      1. Ellenchos2 isn’t an AOC fan. Ellenchos2 is a concern troll who is completely disingenuous in everything they post. They don’t believe the nonsense they type out, it’s all a low grade bit of performance art.

          1. Quid pro quo, troll. You back up any of the dozens of moronic claims you’ve made where you’ve been asked to provide evidence and I will provide an instance of you trolling. (Hint: my task is easier than your task.)

          2. Freja, I don’t know you at all, but I see you as some wise, tart-tongued Betty White character. Maybe someday I’ll buy you a lutefisk handpie and we can discuss elenchos2.

          3. I have no idea what you are going on about. This is a neighborhood blog not a middle school book report.

          4. After seeing your ability to correctly identify and comment on the topics and themes of these short blog entries I’m sure middle school book reports were a living hell for you. After seeing your inability to hold a conversation or interact with people I’m sure everything about middle school was a living hell for you. I’m sorry you’ve had so much trouble in life.

          1. Nah. She’s downstairs seated in a swiveling desk chair, under a bare bulb on a long swinging cord.

  1. Just so everyone knows the photo is of a Norwegian performance group. They are not diverse. They are ALL Norwegians. If you come to the dinner you too will see a live performance by an undiverse group made up of entirely Norwegians. After the salmon dinner and the Norwegian dancers’ preference anyone who wishes to dance can dance with Americans, Norwegians and anyone else who shows up. The dance music will be Norwegian folk music. There will be some dances that even beginner can do. Just let a dancer know that you want to try. If you come to the lodge on a Tuesday night (7:30 Starting again in Sept 10) anyone can learn Norwegian dances even those who are red, yellow, brown, green and especially those who are not Norwegian- for free. You can then dance with Americans and any other person of any Nationality who shows up, but you will be dancing Norwegian dances. The Leif Erikson lodge accepts members who are not Norwegian (like me) but you do have to be interested in Norwegian culture as that is the mission of the Leif Erickson lodge- to preserve Norwegian culture.
