  1. I’m sick of the patriarchy in this city. I’ll be voting for the strong, independent woman in this election and I urge you to do the same.

  2. If you care about Ballard and fixing the systemic problems that we face, then the only answer is to vote for Heidi Wills in this election.

Any other vote is a vote for the status quo – Strauss is O’Brien 2.0.

      1. Glad you asked – I and many others think about what a lovely place Ballard would have been had he not had the hubris to think we needed his “vision.”

O’Brien’s pro-developer-wrapped-in-a-BS-laden-veneer-of-environmentalism schtick has worn thin. Voters see it. And he knows it, which is why he isn’t running. Bu-bye. Strauss will be more of the same. Voters will pick accordingly.

        1. Obviously that’s what you both do because you both did it. Both of you are petty, judgemental, intolerant, and frankly very ugly human beings.

    1. Sure we do. But Heidi wasn’t for strip clubs, she sold her vote for strip club parking lots. She was voted out of office because she is a crook, but she should have gone to jail instead.

  3. Nothing will change until the people do. Electing the very exact thread over and over is hardly diverse or inclusive. I see zero libertarians or conservatives on any ballot. So how does anybody know alternative ideas? Are there then none? Hasn’t anybody here read history or watch the History channel? Is becoming SF north “the plan” then? Hating business and cops and giving heroin addicts full reign or our city is NOT good policy. Wagging fingers into the air and then making policy is not governing/leading either. This IS insanity defined. People in N. Korea though are so proud of Ballard residents though.

    1. Given the electorate in Ballard, Conservative or Libertarian candidates aren’t going to materialize or make it through the primary. But being a Democrat doesn’t per se mean anti-law enforcement or anti-neighborhood.

Party aside, Ballard needs a candidate who will put forth sensible policies that will allow agencies and police to enforce the laws that we have on the books to protect our neighborhoods.

In this election, that’s Heidi Wills.

    2. Paintking — Thank you for the lecture. Now heed your own advice and study history. History should tell you that a vote for Wills is a vote for corruption. Frankly, I don’t care who she is, what she represents, or who she’s running against. I will not vote to put someone back into office that was fined for taking a bribe while in office. Voters rightfully ousted her once, she shouldn’t be allowed back in. Do people not realize this, or are they so blinded that they just don’t care?

      1. You’re missing the point. Everyone is going in with open eyes about Heidi’s short falls. She’s not a perfect candidate. We are simply prioritizing making Ballard livable for families while holding our noses over her admittedly checkered past.

Voting for Dan Strauss is a vote for more of the same (he’s Mike O’Brien 2.0). And hey, if you like junkies stealing stuff from your porch and prowling your cars without an end in sight, that’s your prerogative. It’s not mine, which is why I’m urging folks to vote for Heidi.

  4. Now that we know that Dan Strauss has come out in favor of heroin injection sites, including one in Ballard, the choice is clear. Heidi!

    1. Exactly.

Rather than rely on the proven social construct of deterrence (i.e., break society’s laws, suffer the consequences), radial social engineers like Dan Strauss, Mike O’Brien and Pete Holmes believe that they can glom on another poorly-reasoned “strategy” to get us out of the mess that they put us in the first place.

We need a council member that will work for Ballard, not the RV ranchers, drug dealers, and car prowlers. HEIDI!

  5. Strauss is too liberal…and would take us even further down O’Brien’s disastrous path. We need sensible growth, but no up zones. We need tough-love for the homeless which means taking them into the custody and into some treatment. We need laws banning any RVs parking on public roads. Wills isn’t great, but Strauss is just more of the same disastrous nonsense.

  6. At the end of the day, do I hate strippers or junky porch thieves more? I’m afraid I need to vote for Heidi Wills and intend to do so.
