Aslan Brewing now open in Fremont

Fremont is now home to Aslan Brewing Company.

The Bellingham-born brewery has opened a new taproom on N 36th Street in the new Cedar Speedster building. They announced their opening on Facebook yesterday: “Fresh @salumiseattle sandwiches and cold beer available every day of the week. See y’all at the Center of the Universe!”

This is Aslan’s third location, and their first in Seattle. The new taproom will have 10 rotating beers, with both seasonal options and some staples such as the Bellingham Brown. Sandwiches from Salumi will be on every day at the taproom, with dinner options from neighboring Local Tide and Revel, soon to open in the same building.

The decor is all warm wood and funky art: the bar top, tables, and benches come from a Douglas Fir roof built in the 1900s. The steel is also reclaimed, coming from old buildings razed in Seattle, Aslan says on their website. The murals are all done by Connor McPherson.

Aslan is 21+ and dog-friendly, with Happy Hour from 4pm to 6pm daily and Industry Nights on Sundays. Their hours are Sunday to Thursday, 11am to 11pm; and Friday and Saturday 11am to midnight.

    1. I know I’m not supposed to feed the trolls, but how are bars racist again? I mean there are bars with predominantly non-white clientele. I just don’t get the connection.

Also, luckily it is ALL the way over in Fremont, so Ballard is safe from the influence of these fermented grains peddlers . . .

        1. You are right Elenchos. I’m sorry your comments are being read as troll-ish – people often focus on tone rather than substance. I won’t do that.

Ballard, like most of Seattle, is heavily gentrified and it’s getting worse all the time. Privileged tech workers like myself are being ushered in by kitschy new bars and expensive homes, while homeless people are getting swept aside and people of color are facing increasing suspicion and discrimination. I’ve seen it, I’ve felt it, I believe it.

Bars like this will absolutely cater to clientele that fit the norm for the white collar working class in Fremont. To deny that is to deny privilege itself. I’ve worked in Fremont for the last several years, I’ve seen the changes taking place.

Happy Ballardite – what is your experience with this? I’d like to understand where you are seeing the disconnect.

      1. Actually you can. The legal limit for alcohol while operating a motor vehicle is .08, or about three drinks per hour for women, and four for men. Enjoy!

        1. I don’t think you should be encouraging people to drink and drive. Most European countries (which you all so longingly want to emulate) have much lower standards because they recognize the risks to pedestrians and bicyclists. How dare we try to impose safety rules on the entitle drivers in this country.

          1. I wish you would drink and drive – straight into Puget Sound.

          2. BBB you are really triggered by and don’t like elenchos2, do you? He’s just a troll, being a troll, no need to wish grave misfortune upon him.

          3. Triggered isn’t a word I recognize…I prefer ‘annoyed by’. I don’t really care about e2, I know s/he/it is a troll, and yet, it’s still fun to wish grave misfortune upon s/he/it!

          4. Yes many times. Paris has had the number of cars drop in half. Czech Republic has a BAC limit of 0. Even if I hadn’t been it’s easy to look this stuff up (not make up like the race of local business owners and calling someone a “bad person” for disagreeing with you)

The fact is the city condones people driving drunk because they don’t care about the safety on the roads.

Remember folks if you are using mind altering substances, use them in your car while driving not in a tent or you’ll be arrested.
