The region’s blood supply has taken a hit since the coronavirus landed here, so a blood drive has been organized for today in Ballard to benefit Bloodworks NW.
The public blood drive is happening at 3958 6th Ave NW from 9am to 3pm today (closed 11am-noon), and is hosted by the SōRSE Technology Team. The Bloodmobile will be parked by Brown Bear Car Wash.
“Coronavirus precautions have put the Pacific Northwest’s blood supply at risk of collapse in the coming days. The accelerating number of blood drive cancellations due to the closure of schools, businesses, and events due to COVID-19 concerns has put nearly 60% of the community’s blood supply in jeopardy and is quickly becoming its own crisis,” the event info reads.
