Ballard bouquet sales raise $6k and 4,000 pounds of food for Ballard Food Bank

The fundraiser to support Hmong flower farmers and the Ballard Food Bank has raised over $6,000 for the Ballard Food Bank, and has provided over 4,000 pounds of food.

Roger Dowdy shared the updated totals in the My Ballard Group, saying they’ve also purchased over $60,000 worth of flowers from the Hmong farmers.

The flower sales continue this week, with the online order form remaining open until 8pm on Wednesday, and deliveries happening on Saturday. Dowdy says the farmers are offering a mixed bouquet this week for $22, or 12 stems of peonies for $38. A portion of each purchase will go toward the Ballard Food Bank.

If you want to donate food in addition to ordering flowers, you can set out a bag of donations for pickup on Saturday. Dowdy said the following items would be helpful for the food bank:

  • Soups/chili/Chef Boyardee
  • Individual oatmeal packets
  • Peanut butter
  • Individual cereals
  • Canned meats
  • Top Ramen/Cup of Noodles
  • Shelf stable milks
  • Mac & Cheese
