Pop-up blood donation site starts today at Nordic Museum

Starting today, the National Nordic Museum will have a pop-up blood donation center on-site, run by Bloodworks Northwest.

From Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 10, Bloodworks Northwest will be operating the donation center, which is their alternative to the traditional blood drives and bloodmobiles they typically run. Their Pop-Up Donor Centers are held in larger settings, which allows for more space and safety for donors and staff. The donation hours will be 10am to 5pm each day.

In addition to the Nordic, STG’s Paramount Theatre, Bellevue Arts Museum, and Seattle Rep have all agreed to host their own pop-up blood centers.

“By transforming their currently closed spaces into instant Pop-Up Donor Center experiences, these arts organizations joined a list of local venues utilizing their community spaces to provide a lifeline for patients,” a statement from the museum reads.

There will be some perks for donors, such as takeaways from Starbucks, Premera, Orangina, and Yerbae. And, all donors will get two free admission tickets to the National Nordic Museum to use when it reopens.

To donate, you’ll need to make an appointment online, and be sure to wear a mask or face covering. Bloodworks says they are in need of all blood types, but Type O is especially in demand.
