  1. This is very sad to see. I hadn’t heard about this fire until I happened to be in the neighborhood and drove past, saw the damage, and am now catching up on this tragedy. My wife and I lived in that building and although it hurts to see that this has occurred, I can’t say that I’m all that shocked. The couple who own that property have a very long history of neglecting the place. For the entire last year we lived there, written requests to replace our garbage disposal -which had deteriorated until it had literally rotted off of its mount and was dangling loose, under the sink- went ignored and the washing machine in the laundry room had broken, forcing the entire building’s residents to do their laundry off site. The bottom right apartment (not me and my wife’s,…we were upstairs) was notorious for flooding and management would just tell the residents to put a fan on it to dry it and yes, that space was overtaken by mold. Oh, I could go on and on and on….anyway, this is awful to see but again: why am I also not surprised?
