Snowy Owl spotted in Queen Anne

The past few days, a Snowy Owl has been spotted hopping around on rooftops on Queen Anne.

Prolific local wildlife photographer Jerry Simmons posted the above photo in the My Ballard Group.

Snowy Owls are quite rare for Seattle—their native habitat is the Arctic. The owls have been spotted in years past, and always create a stir.

Most of the sightings of have been in Queen Anne, although we’ve heard reports of the owl visiting Ballard and West Seattle, too.
