Porkchop & Co shifts gears to become Rachel’s Bagels & Burritos

After seven years, local restaurant Porkchop & Co (5451 Leary Ave NW) has made a big change: They’ve changed their name to Rachel’s Bagels & Burritos, focusing on—you guessed it—only bagels and burritos from now on.

The owners shared news of the change on their social channels, saying that rather than celebrating their seven-year anniversary just two weeks ago, they felt a change was in the air.

“We didn’t say anything about it at the time because the moment had us thinking that maybe it’s time for something new,” the owners wrote. “We’ve decided to change our name to Rachel’s Bagels and Burritos and to stick with our current business model.”

One of the biggest changes for the restaurant will be the permanent dissolution of their brunch menu. The owners say that more menu tweaks are coming soon, with earlier opening hours and a more streamlined layout in the works.

Their current menu has a host of homemade bagel offerings, including everything, za’atar, sesame, poppy seed, togarashi, and plain. Spreads include a number of different cream cheese flavors including plain, tarragon, scallion, wild lox, horseradish-scallion, Caesar, and a Dungeness crab spread. For the non-dairy folks, they have a house-made hummus and marionberry jam.

Rachel’s bagel sandwiches also run the gamut, with options such as The Nick and Nora with avocado and cream cheese; Living at Home is Such a Drag with hummus, maitake mushrooms, celery root al pastor, and mint chimichurri; and Major Briggs with scrambled egg, ham, and tarragon cream cheese.

Their scrambled eggs and potato breakfast burritos also have a strong showing on the menu, with the Raquel (chorizo, cheese, arugula, cilantro, onion, and guajillo salsa), the Thomas (pork belly, kale, Mama Lil’s, and tomatillo salsa), and the Luis (pastured chicken, grilled onion, arugula, guajillo chile salsa, cheese).

“Friends, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate the support over these last seven years.  Your patience, warmth, and hungry bellies have gotten us here,” the owners say. “And we’d be remiss if we didn’t admit to being more than a little nervous about our future as a bagel & burrito shop. It’s hard to say goodbye to something that worked, but we’re really darn excited for the future.

Rachel’s Bagels & Burritos is open for pickup and delivery orders: Call in your order by calling 206-257-5761 or ordering online. Online ordering will remain on until they get too busy; they ask that customers call orders in during busy times. You can also order for a delivery on Caviar or Doordash.
