Seattle Public Schools launches COVID dashboard to track cases by area

You can now keep an eye on COVID-19 cases in Seattle schools thanks to an interactive dashboard.

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) launched their COVID-19 dashboard to track cases in schools around the city. The school district’s Business Intelligence and Health Services teams created the dashboard, which shows confirmed COVID cases among students and staff at Seattle Public Schools.

The dashboard is refreshed weekly on Mondays, and divides data by region, week, and role (student vs staff) to help families understand the pandemic effects across the entire district.

As of Sept. 9, there have been 44 reported cases of COVID-19 in Seattle Public Schools. Of those 44, seven percent of cases are among staff, and 93 percent are among students.

Four of those cases have been identified in Northwest Seattle, with one-quarter among staff and three-quarters among students.

As the COVID-19 dashboard details note, confirmed case exposure may not have occurred within the Seattle Public School sites, and only cases confirmed on or after Sept. 4, 2020 are represented in the dashboard.

Students returned to in-person learning last week, with all students and staff required to be masked and all staff and volunteers to be vaccinated, as per the state mandate. For other changes related to COVID-19 in Seattle schools, SPS created this short video about the return to in-person learning.
