Man rescued from Ship Canal boring tunnel in Ballard

Seattle Fire rescued a man stuck inside a utility tunnel and reportedly pinned against a rail car.

Seattle Fire responded to the incident Wednesday morning near the 5300 block of 24th Ave NW, where Seattle Public Utilities has constructed a boring tunnel to build the new wastewater collection shaft alongside the Ship Canal.

According to Seattle Fire, the man was rescued from inside the tunnel boring operation.

The man was transported to Harborview in stable condition.
