On Wednesday night, thieves stole the large canopy that was outside the PowerHouse studio at the Fremont Arts Council (3940 Fremont Ave N).
FAC member Daniel tells My Ballard that community workshops have been meeting under the canopy to create art for the upcoming Luminata lantern festival happening on Sept. 24.
“This is really necessary for all the Luminata community workshops happening there right now, and we’re hoping to get the canopy returned immediately,” Daniel said. “This is the second time this has happened, and FAC does not have funds to replace it.”
The canopy has “FAC” spray-painted on it in large letters. (You can see the canopy in the Instagram post below.)
