7-story apartment building in Fremont planned to replace 121-year old Harvey Family Funeral Home

A new apartment complex is in the works for downtown Fremont in the former Harvey Family Funeral Home location at 508 N 36th St.

According to the Seattle DJC, Prometheus Real Estate is behind the project, which includes 169 units and parking for 73 vehicles. The developer bought the funeral home property for $20 million late last year, according to public records.

The Harvey Family Funeral Home was built in 1902 and used to be called the Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Funeral Home. In Nov. 2021, the Harvey family attempted to have the building designated a historic landmark.

However, the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board opted not to protect it because it did not appear to meet any of the designation standards for historic status, and did not “have the integrity or ability to convey any potential significance.”

The project is in the early design review phase, but we’ll update you with any new information.
