National Nordic Museum is now home to Thomas Dambo’s Frankie Feetsplinter troll

Ballard has a new troll: Frankie Feetsplinter now stands in front of the National Nordic Museum.

The troll unveiling happened yesterday at the museum. The Ballard troll is Thomas Dambo’s sixth and final installation as part of “Northwest Trolls: The Way of the Bird King.” The other trolls are in Portland, Vashon Island, West Seattle, Bainbridge, and Issaquah.

Dambo is known for his troll installations all over the world. Using recycled materials and working with volunteers, Dambo connects each troll to its environment. The Northwest troll project “celebrates the human experience of art by amplifying the connections of cultural heritage between Coast Salish tribal communities and Scandinavian traditions,” according to the project website.
