The new playground is nearly complete at Ballard Commons Park.
The Ballard Alliance along with Councilmember Dan Strauss initiated the project, and Seattle Parks and Recreation crews have been building the new playground since September.
The project has been in the works for years: Called The Cove, the nautical-themed playground has climbing structures and slides. SPR says they’ve also installed a new seat wall, planted more trees, and made some utility updates during the project.
Right now, crews are still installing the play structures and conducting concrete work on the wall features. The playground is expected to open by mid-April with a grand opening event.
