Police recover $40,000 worth of Magic: The Gathering cards stolen from a Ballard warehouse

A 28-year-old man is in King County Jail after stealing $40,000 worth of Magic: The Gathering cards from a Ballard warehouse.

According to Seattle Police, the man was a temporary worker at the warehouse in the 5100 block of Leary Ave NW.

On Jan. 23, the warehouse manager contacted police when they noticed “substantial discrepancies” in their inventory. The suspect’s contract had ended a few days prior.

Police say the business found cards that were similar to the missing inventory being sold online. Police tracked the suspect from an order through the marketplace, discovering his name and address on the delivery envelope.

Seattle Police then served a warrant at the suspect’s home, where they recovered the majority of the Magic cards.

Detectives booked the man into King County Jail for theft and trafficking in stolen property.
