Loyal Heights Playfield is currently closed after a fire damaged the mound.
Seattle Parks and Recreation tells My Ballard the cause of the fire was arson—the incident happened on Tuesday night.
Members of the My Ballard Facebook group reported that a car was driven onto the field at 1 a.m. and caught on fire.
SPR says they’ve gotten it cleaned up and replacing the mound, adding that there was minimal damage and that the field should be playable even while repairs are made.
