New bar and restaurant Roam opens on Ballard Ave

There’s a new bar and restaurant on Ballard Ave: Roam has just opened at 5105 Ballard Ave NW.

Roam is in the space where Ballard Loft used to operate, which closed in July. Roam owner Nicole Healy told My Ballard that the concept has been “a long-standing vision” that has “developed over many years in the industry.”

Roam, which Healy said was inspired by her love of travel, blends her “favorite experiences, foods, and beverages into one welcoming space—a place that embodies creativity, open-mindedness, and a genuine good time.”

Roam, Healy said, has split-level entertainment. The downstairs is a bar with local sports on TV, while upstairs—which they’re still finalizing—is going to be a more relaxed atmosphere. Healy’s wife has helped design the upstairs space with “paintings of talented and historic figures to create an inviting vibe,” she said.

The food menu has “rustic Italian bites” which Healy said are inspired by her mother’s Italian heritage and Healy’s own culinary experiences. The drink menu is inspired by Healy’s travels and her own favorite cocktails.

The bar is still under development as they “explore new ideas,” Healy said. They’ll set up a “Pop-a-Shot” in the coming weeks, and they’ll have a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.

Roam is open 4 p.m to 2 a.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
