There’s a new restaurant planned for the former Fat Hen location at 1418 NW 70th St: It’s called A Lamb’s Quandary, and it will carry on the space’s tradition of being a neighborhood brunch spot.
The Fat Hen closed in September after 13 years in Ballard. The owners hinted that a new concept was being planned for the space, saying “a talented young individual” was taking over.
A Lamb’s Quandary has already posted their menu online, with their specialty being all things waffles.
They’ll have waffle sandwiches such as The Brisket, a Szechuan-spiced braised brisket, with perilla leaf, housemade kimchi, gochujang aioli and served with a side of slaw; The Italian Beef, with slow-cooked pepperoncini and Italian herbed pulled beef, horseradish aioli and served with a side of giardiniera (Italian picked veggies); and The Fried Chicken, which is fried chicken, housemade slaw, maple lemon aioli and served with a side of housemade kimchi.
They’ll also serve a Hashbrown Scramble, which will be scrambled eggs nestled in a hashbrown, folded over with housemade kimchi, and topped with scallion and lemon zest; and their Fresh Ricotta Waffle, which is a waffle topped with ricotta and fresh fruit.
Their hours, once they open (opening date TBD but we’ll keep you updated) will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
