Last chance to visit The Stepping Stone before it closes permanently

Tomorrow (Jan. 21) is the last day to visit The Stepping Stone bar before it closes permanently.

The Stepping Stone is being forced to close because property owner Eastlake Hill Properties LLC served them a notice to vacate—but The Stepping Stone is the only tenant in the building that received an eviction notice. Tall Grass Bakery, One Stop Smoke, and Sparkle Cleaners are all still operating in the building.

Co-owner Liz Nielsen told My Ballard that she received the eviction notice in December. “Currently we have no plans since this came up so fast and during the holidays,” she wrote in an email. They have to be out of the space by Jan. 22.

The original owner Robbie Becker opened The Stepping Stone in 2008. Liz Nielsen and Darren Miller (former Viking Tavern employee) bought the bar in 2013.

Nielsen and Miller are searching for a new location in Ballard. We’ll keep you posted if they make plans to relocate.
