Did you know Fremont has a soup festival?
It’s called Soupocalypse, and it’s kind of like a wine walk, but with soup. It’s happening this weekend, Jan. 30 to Feb. 2.
Organized by Fremont Mischief Distillery, Soupocalypse is also a soup challenge: Participants can pick up a soup passport at the beginning of the festival and get stamps for each consumed soup at 16 different Fremont locations. You can get a stamp for ordering in or for to-go orders, and when you hit eight stamps from different locations, you’ll be able to collect some “Super Souper Swag” at Fremont Mischief.
Soupocalypse was born in January 2021 during the pandemic. “It gave the Center of the Universe residents a chance to escape their homes and enjoy a warm bowl of soup while taking in the sights and sounds of the Burke-Gilman Trail,” the website reads. “The experience was so enjoyable that now we celebrate soup every year.”
The participating locations are Fremont Mischief, Shawn O’Donnell’s, El Camino, Swel, Triangle Spirits, Esters Enoteca, Paseo, Kaosamai, Red Star Taco Bar, Soul, Frelard Tamales, Pecado Bueno, The George & Dragon, Dreamland, Local Tide, and the Barrel Thief.
