Seattle police arrested a suspect they believe is responsible for shooting a 64-year-old man in Baker Park (8347 14th Ave NW) on Sunday morning.
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) says police officers, detectives, and the SWAT team arrested the 20-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon. Police booked him into King County Jail for investigation of robbery and murder.
The Seattle Times reports that the man who was shot and killed was Edward Reed Lammon. SPD says that nearby surveillance footage showed two men following Lammon into Baker Park after he got off a bus early Sunday. They tried to steal his backpack, and in the process, shot him in the back. The gunman reportedly ran away but returned and shot him four more times while he was on the ground.
SPD says homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit recovered a firearm and additional evidence during the investigation and arrest.
