Blue Ridge Coffee House to open this summer

A new coffee shop is coming soon to the Blue Ridge neighborhood—Blue Ridge Coffee House plans to open this summer.

The owners are Jeff and Ashleigh Root, and they’re renovating the little blue building that used to be Blue Ridge Realty (9925 15th Ave NW) to turn it into a cafe. The Roots and their two sons Hunter and Dash are Blue Ridge residents.

“As a family, we’ve always valued the sense of community that makes the Ballard area special, and we’re passionate about creating a place where friends, neighbors, and visitors can come together over a great cup of coffee,” the Roots shared in a message to My Ballard.

The Roots are busy working to transform the former realtor office, which was built in 1932 with no foundation. As part of the renovation, they’re going to lift the entire building to create a new foundation.

“Although it’s been a long process, we are very grateful to the city for allowing us to transform the property into something that will serve our neighborhood as a gathering place for all. We look forward to sharing our passion and creating a space that reflects the heart of our neighborhood.”

They don’t have an opening date set, but hinted that they hope to open by this summer.
