New indoor pickleball facility Pickle at the Palms under construction in Interbay

Construction for the new indoor pickleball facility, Pickle at the Palms, is underway in Interbay, with plans to bring 20 courts and a range of programming by summer 2026.

Pickle at the Palms will be located at 3435 15th Ave W, just south of the Ballard Bridge.

Seattle Storm co-owner Ginny Gilder and her daughter Sierra, along with Sierra’s husband Kyle Schraeder, are behind the project.

Gilder is an Olympic silver medalist in rowing and co-owner of the Seattle Storm and brings decades of sports leadership to the venture. Sierra, an athlete and designer, has helped shape the aesthetic and atmosphere of the new facility, while Kyle, a former Division I tennis player and coach, serves as general manager.

Designed specifically for pickleball, the two-level complex will feature 20 professional-quality indoor courts, two court-view lounges, a pro shop, and climate control throughout. Additional amenities will include on-site parking, secure bicycle parking, restrooms, showers, and access to the RapidRide D Line.

Construction is being led by Sellen Construction, with architecture by AXIS Architecture + Design. Seattle developer Maria Barrientos of barrientosRYAN is serving as project developer and investor.

The facility will offer a range of programming for all ages and skill levels, including open play, court reservations, instructional classes, coaching, clinics, tournaments, and other events. Seattle artist Sam Wood is designing a large mural for the building’s façade, inspired by the movement of the sport.

Plans for the pickleball facility have been in the works for years; the project was first announced back in 2023. For the past couple of years, the owners have let the former car wash site become a safe lot for RV parking and a small tiny house village.
