Police arrest driver of stolen truck at Ballard Goodwill

Seattle police arrested a 31-year-old man Tuesday afternoon after tracking a stolen truck to the Goodwill parking lot in Ballard.

According to SPD, the incident began around 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 when patrol officers using an automatic license plate reader identified a stolen Ford F-150 near Meridian Ave N and N Northgate Way. King County Sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter responded and followed the truck from the air as officers attempted traffic stops.

Police say the driver sped away through a residential area. During the pursuit, a passenger ran from the truck but was quickly detained and later released after officers investigated.

Guardian One continued monitoring the vehicle until it arrived at the Ballard Goodwill. SPD reports that the driver ran into the store and changed clothing in an attempt to avoid arrest. Officers located him inside the store with help from security.

Police recovered 25.9 grams of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and burglary and auto theft tools from the stolen truck, which was impounded.

The man was booked into King County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding police, and possession with intent to distribute narcotics. SPD says he is a multi-convicted felon currently under Department of Corrections supervision.
