Seattle’s Historic Preservation Program is holding its annual election for the Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board, with two positions set to appear on the 2026 ballot.
According to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, candidates will run for Position #6, designated for a property owner or businessperson, and Position #7, designated for a property owner. Both terms would expire June 30, 2028.
Community members are invited to nominate candidates for the board. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Ballots and self-addressed, stamped envelopes will be mailed to registered voters on Friday, May 8, 2026. Completed ballots must be received by mail no later than Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Residents, business operators, and property owners within the Ballard Avenue Landmark District boundaries are eligible to vote if they register at least 14 days before the election date. The deadline to register is Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The Ballard Avenue Landmark District was established in 1976 and is a nationally recognized historic district. The board reviews and approves changes to building exteriors and public spaces within the district, including signage, awnings, paint colors, and new construction.
