Ballard Regnbue: Here’s what to know before Friday’s festival

The Ballard Regnbue Pride Festival and World Cup watch party will take over downtown Ballard on Friday, June 26, with a full day of soccer watch parties, live performances, entertainment, and community activities.

The free festival, produced by the Ballard Alliance, will feature televised World Cup matches, live entertainment, a market with local vendors, and activities for all ages.

Programming begins at 11:30 a.m. with the Norwegian Ladies Chorus performing the Norwegian national anthem ahead of the Norway vs. France match, which kicks off at noon. DJ Summersoft and emcee Sativa The Queen will host programming throughout the day, and a drag show is scheduled for the afternoon.

Additional matches on the schedule include Uruguay vs. Spain at 5 p.m. and Egypt vs. Iran at 8 p.m.

Here’s the full schedule:

  • 11:30 a.m. – Noon: Welcome from Sativa The Queen and music from DJ Summersoft
  • Noon – 2 p.m.: Norway vs. France World Cup watch party
  • 2 – 5 p.m.: Drag show featuring Sativa The Queen and guests, plus music from DJ Summersoft
  • 5 – 7 p.m.: Uruguay vs. Spain World Cup watch party
  • 7 – 8 p.m.: Pride performances
  • 8 – 10 p.m.: Egypt vs. Iran Pride Day match watch party

Attendees are encouraged to bring low-profile beach chairs or blankets for seating. The event will take place rain or shine.

Several streets in downtown Ballard will be closed to accommodate the festival. According to the Ballard Alliance, the following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday, June 27:

  • Ballard Avenue NW between NW Market Street and NW Vernon Place
  • 22nd Avenue NW between NW Market Street and NW Shilshole Avenue

“No parking” enforcement in the closure area will begin at 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The Ballard Alliance says private parking lots within the closure area will not be accessible during the event. Bus routes will not be affected.
