Here’s your weekly events roundup for July 13-19 in Ballard.
This week, plenty of crafty, foodie, and musical things are going on, with the biggest event being the Salmon Bay FC’s bid at becoming national champions on Saturday, July 18.

- Free Movie Screening of Earth’s Greatest Enemy, Center for Spiritual Living Ballard, 6 p.m.
- This thought-provoking documentary examines the environmental and human costs of U.S. militarism, arguing that the American military-industrial complex is one of the world’s largest—and least scrutinized—contributors to climate destruction. Following the film, we’ll be joined by special guests from 350 Seattle, a grassroots climate action organization working to confront the climate crisis through organizing, public education, and advocacy for a rapid transition away from fossil fuels
- Make your own Coach-inspired Bookish Bag Charms, Swoon City, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
- Have you been lusting after the coach bag charms but want to make them your way? Now’s your chance to make three book bag charms. Using three pre-choosen books, beautiful glass, ceramic and brass beads, and leather you will learn how to make your own book bag charms to adorn your favorite purse.
- Name That Tune with Miss Texas, SkÃ¥l Beer Hall, 8 – 9:30 p.m.
- You’re that friend who starts belting out the song two seconds in?! This night is for you! Come Name That Tune in our new event series hosted by one of the premier Seattle Drag Queens, Miss Texas! She hosts every first and third Thursday of the month.Face-off against the competition in this King or Queen of the Hill format. Two contestants will compete at a time. When you know the song, buzz in and score points for correctly naming the song and the artist. Get the most right and you’ll move on to face the next challenger. Prizes will be awarded to top performers. No entry fee.

- Stop by your local Town & Country Market and pick up a sweet treat for a good cause. We’ll be selling delicious root beer floats made to order with our stunning new EveryDay T&C ice cream! Suggested donation $5; all proceeds go to benefit our local food banks through our Giving Together program.
- Paint Your Own Romantasy-Inspired Tote, Swoon City, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
- Let your imagination take flight (on a dragon) or fight for your favorite design. In this 1.5-hour workshop, you’ll get plenty of templates or create your own design for a custom tote. No experience needed. All supplies will be provided, and you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation.

- Join us for a special reading by Sapphic Writer/ Poet JK Hernandez. JK Hernandez is the author of Jade’s Journals and The Color Jade, a coming-of-age Sapphic romance that explores Afro-Latina and LGBTQIA+ identity, intergenerational trauma and healing, and more. The reading will be followed by a QA as well as a book signing.

Sunday, July 19
- Ballard Farmer’s Market, Ballard Ave, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.(recurring)
- Open since 2000, the Ballard Farmers Market is Seattle’s first year-round neighborhood farmers market selling produce exclusively from Washington state farmers. The Market has operated along the historic cobblestone stretch of Ballard Avenue NW between Vernon Place and 22nd Avenue.
- Fruit & Cheese Pairing Class, Skål Beer Hall, 3 -5 p.m.
- Join us to taste the bounty of peak fruit season in Washington! We’ll be pairing local, domestic, & Nordic cheeses with fresh, dried, preserved & pickled fruits. The expert cheesemongers from Street Cheese in Beacon Hill will lead us in the pairing.
