An attic fire broke out in a single-family residence last night in Loyal Heights. No injuries were reported.
According to Seattle Fire, crews were dispatched at 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday night for a report of fire in a single-family residence in the 2800 block of NW 72nd St. SFD says Engine 35 arrived first on scene and confirmed smoke was visible coming from a two-story home with a basement. Firefighters entered the home and reported fire in the void space above the finished attic, and to access the fire, they had to remove portions of the ceiling. They got water on the fire, then put out hot spots. The fire was reported to be extinguished at 10:16 p.m.
Fire investigators ruled the fire as accidental, likely caused by an overloaded and outdated electrical circuit.Â
Several residential fires have broken out in recent weeks in Seattle. On July 19, SFD extinguished a fire in the 8300 block of Loyal Way NW. And on July 16, an apartment fire displaced residents from 12 units in Fremont.
