Sustainable Ballard to host Edible Garden Tour July 11

The 11th Annual Edible Garden Tour around Ballard is happening soon—with physical distancing measures.

The Edible Garden Tour is a walking or biking tour of a dozen Ballard gardens, planting strips, containers, raised beds, and chicken coops. Organized by Sustainable Ballard, the tour is self-guided, with gardeners at each home to answer questions.

“As anyone who’s recently tried to find vegetable seeds or plant starts can attest, there has been a renewed interest in edible gardening this year as people spend more time at home and try to make do with fewer grocery trips,” Sustainable Ballard writes in their event info. “Sustainable Ballard hopes that our annual Edible Garden Tour will inspire and inform all the budding gardeners out there.”

This year’s tour will be a little different, with contactless checkins and garden visitors limited to five at any one time. Sustainable Ballard notes that masks are required.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, and free for Sustainable Ballard members. To attend, reserve a spot online. The tour will be from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, July 11.
