Here’s your weekly events roundup for Monday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 6 in Ballard.
This week brings two neighborhood trivia nights, the final days of the National Nordic Museum’s Moomin exhibitions, the weekly Ballard Farmers Market, and a quiet Sunday evening of reading.
Monday, Aug. 31
- Magic Monday Casual Commander Night, Reuben’s Brews Ballard Taproom, 6–9 p.m.
- Players of all experience levels can bring a deck and join a casual evening of Magic: The Gathering. The event is free.
- Monday Trivia, Cloudburst on Shilshole, 6–7:30 p.m.
- The all-ages trivia night features prizes and is free to enter.
- Bingo Monday, Ballard Beer Box, 6:30–8 p.m.
- Players can compete for prizes during the weekly bingo night. The event is free.
Tuesday, Sept. 1
- Bring Your Own Craft, Artemis Coffee, 5–7 p.m.
- Bring a knitting, crochet, drawing or other craft project for a casual community crafting session.
- Trivia Night, Ballard Beer Box, 6–8 p.m.
- Teams can test their knowledge during the venue’s weekly Tuesday trivia night.
- Trivia Tuesday, Rough & Tumble Pub, 7–9:30 p.m.
- Teams of up to six players compete through six rounds of general trivia. The all-ages event is free.
Wednesday, Sept. 2
- Beer Hall Trivia, SKÅL Beer Hall, 7–9 p.m.
- Teams will compete in five trivia rounds, including a music round. Entry costs $5.
- Book Trivia, The Ink Drinker, 8–9:30 p.m.
- Teams and solo players can test their literary knowledge, with prizes for first, second and third place. The event is free.
Thursday, Sept. 3
- Free First Thursday, National Nordic Museum, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
- The museum offers free admission on the first Thursday of the month. Advance reservations are available, and walk-ins are welcome.
- Yarn & Thread Thursday, Cardoon, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- Bring a knitting, crochet, embroidery or other fiber project for a free community crafting session.
- Karaoke at Hattie’s Hat, 9:30–11 p.m.
- Sing or watch others perform during the weekly karaoke night in Hattie’s Hat’s back room.
Friday, Sept. 4
- Moomins’ Sea Adventures and Tove and the Sea, National Nordic Museum, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- This is one of the final opportunities to see the two exhibitions exploring Moominvalley and creator Tove Jansson’s relationship with the sea. The exhibitions close Sunday, Sept. 6. Admission is $10–$25.
Saturday, Sept. 5
- Washington State Letter Carriers Band, Ballard Locks, 2–4:30 p.m.
- The band performs in the Carl S. English Jr. Botanical Garden as part of the Locks’ free summer concert series.
Sunday, Sept. 6
- Ballard Farmers Market, Ballard Ave, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- The year-round neighborhood market features produce and other goods from Washington state farmers and vendors along Ballard Avenue.
- Silent Reading at The Ink Drinker, 6–8 p.m.
- Bring your current book for two hours of quiet reading. The event is free.
