Weigh in on West Magnolia Playfield play area renovation

The West Magnolia Playfield Playfield play area (2518 34th Ave W) is set to be renovated, and Seattle Parks is asking the community for input on the design concepts.

Seattle Parks says the current play area equipment is 20 years old and ready for an update. The play area will get new, age-appropriate play structures for kids ages 2 to 12, new safety surfacing, and site furnishings. The parks department says all the community art and Karen’s Place blocks will remain in place during the renovation.

According to the West Magnolia Playfield Playfield play area engagement hub, each of the three design concepts include improved ADA-compliant routes and and incorporate climbing, ziplines, spinners, and toddler and older-kid swings.

On Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon, Seattle Parks staff will be outside at the Magnolia Community Center (2550 34th Ave. W) near the play area with a tent and the three design concepts for the public to review and provide feedback on.

If you’re unable to attend the Oct. 31 event, Seattle Parks will launch an online survey with the three design concepts that will remain open for three weeks, until Nov. 23.

The project is in the design phase, with construction expected to start in summer 2028.
