Every month, the historic streets of Ballard transform into a vibrant, neighborhood-wide gallery. Local boutiques, bars, cafes, and dedicated studios open their doors to showcase incredible work from Pacific Northwest painters, photographers, sculptors, and makers. - When: The second Saturday of every month.
- Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (though many venues, bars, and restaurants keep the party going much later!).
- Where: Across the Ballard neighborhood, with the highest concentration of participating venues located along Ballard Ave NW and NW Market St.
- Admission: Entirely free!

The Ballard ArtWalk isn’t just a traditional gallery viewing—it’s a full neighborhood social event.

You’ll find an eclectic mix of contemporary fine art, stunning landscape photography, handmade jewelry, pottery, and street art. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet local creators, buy original pieces, or grab affordable prints directly from the artists.

Many participating Ballard businesses pull out all the stops for visitors. Don’t be surprised to find complimentary wine, local craft beer, non-alcoholic refreshments, and light appetizers as you browse the displays.
🎵 Live Performance & Atmosphere
The energy on the sidewalks is unmatched. On any given second Saturday, your walk down Ballard Ave will be soundtracked by local buskers, street performers, or live DJs spinning inside the shops.
Tips for the Perfect ArtWalk Evening
- Start Early, Stay Late: Arrive a bit before 6:00 PM to grab parking or a spot on the bus, and stick around after 9:00 PM to grab dinner or a cocktail at one of Ballard’s award-winning restaurants.
- Look for the Windows: Participating venues usually display an official ArtWalk sign or poster in their front window. If you see it, pop on in!
- Don’t Skip the Side Streets: While Market St and Ballard Ave are the main hubs, make sure to check the map for hidden gems tucked away in the industrial blocks or up toward 14th Ave. Places like BallardWorks (on NW Market near 30th) often open up multi-floor artist studios that are a must-see.
