The Seattle City Council PLUS Committee is hosting an Open Forum this evening to discuss micro-housing legislation from 5:30 p.m. at Seattle City Council Chambers (Second floor, 600 4th Ave).
The meeting is set to give locals from all neighborhoods the opportunity to voice their concerns in regards to this very topical issue.
Councilmember Mike O’Brien, who spoke to hundreds of Ballardites at last week’s CBRA meeting, will host the hearing that will focus on the micro-housing regulations proposed by the Seattle Department of Planning and Development.
The PLUS Committee is looking to implement legislation that will improve how micro-housing or “aPodments” fit into neighborhoods, make housing more livable and affordable for renters and continue to support innovation in housing design.
Local group Livable Ballard has sent out an email encouraging Ballardites to attend the hearing. “This meeting is a critical opportunity for residents to express their opinions on micro-housing. Even if you don’t want to speak yourself, please come and support your fellow concerned citizens,” writes organizers of Livable Ballard.
Each attendee from the public will be allocated two minutes to address the committee with public comment sign up sheets being available from 5 p.m. Click here to check out the meeting’s agenda.
The PLUS Committee will meet again on June 3 and could vote on the legislation as early as June 17.
