Tree removal underway on 8th Ave NW

Seattle Department of Transportation crews are removing the dead trees along 8th Ave. that didn’t survive last winter’s harsh weather.

As we reported yesterday, the trees will be salvaged and sent to the Childrens PlayGarden project. Crews will work the rest of this week taking the trees out and wait until spring to replace them.

  1. I hope they replace the trees sooner rather than later. They will get all the free fall/winter water if they go in now. Also, that stretch from 65th to 70th on 8th is just the pits. It's the back of people's houses vs. the front so it gets much more overgrown and unkempt than most streets because the people obviously don't spend much time cutting the grass and picking up trash between their back property line and the street. I don't know how Seattle ever platted this street like this, but it's awful. I'm sure some long dead politician pocketed a few bucks and we have to live w/the eyesore for decades.
