Not Tom Cruise’s yacht at the Terminal

Posted by Geeky Swedes on March 26th, 2008

Updated: The SeattlePI’s Big Blog got us momentarily excited with the rumor that Tom Cruise’s yacht, named Suri, was parked at Fishermen’s Terminal. The blog post vanished half-hour after it appeared, deepening the mystery. But now the Big Blog has posted an update with word that the yacht is not owned by Tom Cruise but a “very wealthy private American owner.” If you want to see it, too late, as it pulled out this morning, on its way to New Zealand.

SuRi and JeMaSa are moored together at Yacht Haven, Phuket, as at Feb 23. Amazing vessels
  • the SuRi is currently in puerto vallarta, and will head to fiji in a coupla days where it will meet up with JeMeSa before heading to Australia..
  • I actually happen to know the answers to all this Cruise talk! I work in the marketing and development department of Stabbert Yacht & Ship, the shipyard that was the major contractor for the SuRi project and the location where the refit took place. I can guarantee you 100% that the SuRi is not Tom Cruise's. The "Wealthy American Owner" is not code word for celebrity.

A bit of trivia which helps support my claims. SuRi is the initials of the owner and his wife. The SuRi is a support vessel (shadow yacht) to the mother ship / super yacht JeMaSa (initials of their children). If you really want to know who the owners are you can do a search on the web for the owner of the JeMaSa and find out (although that may be difficult also) Super yacht owners tend to not like their name thrown around. All of this info in open to the public.

Anyway I heard people were freaking out about this so I thought I would try to add my 2 cents... for what its worth. HA HA

    Take it easy.

It is now in Marina del Rey, Ca. outside my apartment building. One amazing boat. I talked to one of the crew members and it is a support vessel that follows behind the main yacht and carriers pleasure crafts...kayaks, yet skis, speed boats, canoes, bicycles, etc. It also has a steam room, a salon, a massage parlor and a helicopter. Woo Hoo!!! Wish I had one.

I've often wondered if the SuRi was named for the famous child. I looked up the SuRi's origins on these here internets - evidently it's a yachting-ish specialty support boat. Odd.

It's been parked at the end of the dock that runs along the cut by Fisherman's Terminal for over a month now. It sure is pretty...
  • Oh, actually, it isn't called the Suri, it's the SuRi. And the post is back and updated with the 'I was an idiot who didn't actually research, just assumed Suri was Tom's boat named after his daughter'
  • I work in the maritime industry in Ballard and I was told by one of the guys on our boat that there is a boat seized by the U.S. Marshall at fisherman's terminal that Tom Cruise was possibly going to buy the boat. I heard this a couple of weeks ago and nothing ever came of it. I will check back with my source in the next couple of days and report back. :)
