Aurora Bridge lanes repainted

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 14th, 2009

The lane lines on the Aurora Bridge that disappeared during the snowstorm, creating plenty of confusion, are being re-painted today (Wednesday).

Seattle Department of Transportation crews are closing one lane in the northbound direction this morning and will move to the southbound lanes later on. Crews plan to be off the roadway by 3 p.m. in time for the afternoon commute. Drivers are asked to not drive over the wet paint.

Keith, the lines were painted sometime yesterday.

That bridge has always made me nervous... the lanes are too tight. Can't imagine trying to drive a bus or a truck on it. I wish they could have left it two lanes.

There was wet paint this morning?

Apparently, no one asked me … lol … put a sign up DOT!

I'm glad the lines are going back in. If the lines are not there, it is only one lane, so driving down the middle is the lawful and proper procedure. You can't expect everyone who drives the bridge to know that it is supposed to be 2 lanes.

That is good news, but man is it tough fitting the 24 foot rig in that curb lane, ya have to just stick those tires 1 inch on either side of the lines. hey car drivers! remember to give us a brake sometimes, it is not easy delivering around town, but it is our job.

Driving home drunk from Canlis won't be nearly as much fun.......

Woot woot! I've seen plenty of folks driving right down the middle. They can't ALL be unfamiliar with the bridge...

Yeah i've driven on it a couple of times and all it takes is one out of town driver not knowing it's two lanes to cause a crash!
