Emerald City Soccer League set to encourage local kids to have fun and play soccer

Emerald City Football Club have partnered with Seattle Parks and Recreation to create the Emerald City Soccer League. The league will give Seattle kids the opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while playing soccer with fellow young Seattleites later this year.

The Emerald City Soccer League is a recreation level league for kids ages six to thirteen. Teams will  be organized across Seattle through participating neighborhood community centers. In our area, Loyal Heights Community Center will be taking part along with other centers in Seattle including Bitter Lake, Delridge, Garfield, Laurelhurst and Meadowbrook. The league will kick off in September for just over two months and will end before the fall basketball season begins.

The league aims to provide a safe environment for young people to play and learn soccer at any skill level. Parent coaches will facilitate training sessions supported by Emerald City Football Club’s professional coaching staff. All games will be played at the participating community centers.

“This is going to be an amazing asset for the city in many ways,” says Emerald City Football club representative Brad Agoos. He also emphasizes that the highest priority for the league is not competition, but to make sure kids are having fun.

If you are interested in your child participating in the league, registration will be open at Loyal Heights Community Center from May 21. To find out more information email Emerald City Soccer Club at communitysoccer@emeraldcityfc.org
