Ballard set to celebrate Earth Day 2013

Today is international Earth Day, where people all over the world have the opportunity come together to fight climate change. There are celebrations all over our neighborhood in honor of the special day. Check out the list below and head out to show your support for the environment:

  • Mayor’s Earth Day at Golden Gardens (8498 Seaview Pl NW)  at 1:30 p.m. Mayor McGinn, elected officials of city governments and tribal nations across the Pacific Northwest will announce the formation of the new coalition to oppose coal trains and coal experts. Celebrate the successes of the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign. Click here to see more details about the event.
  • Earth Day Celebrations at La Isla (2320 NW Market St). The celebrations will include food and drink specials with a raffle that will benefit the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance. Try their special “Earth Day Mojito” and win prizes from their sponsors Uber, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, DonQ, Caliche and Green Drinks. Prizes include locally grown Orchids from Emerald City Orchids, a Mariners signed baseball and certificates for Pollution Patrol.
  • Sunergy Systems Earth Day Happy Hour at 4546 Leary Way NW from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Some beer enthusiasts at Sunergy Systems have become good home brewers and will be serving up some beer to celebrate Earth Day. Click here to let them know if you will be coming and b.y.o mug.
  • Crown Hill Greenways Meeting at Crown Hill Center (9250 14th Ave NW) from 7:15 p.m. Celebrate Earth Day by learning more about the possibility of greenways in Crown Hill. A speaker from Ballard greenways will present at the meeting followed by a Q & A session. Click here for more details.
