What’s on this weekend

The weekend is here again and brings with it the official start of summer! Bring on the sunshine! Get out and about and enjoy the weekend at some of the awesome events happening in and around Ballard.

Friday, June 21:

  • Fremont Fair is on weekend starting at 4 p.m. today. Click here to check out more about the events.
  • Populuxe Brewing Family Happy Hour from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (826B NW 49th St).  Tasty brews will be available for the adults and Tumblebus, an interactive mobile gymnastics bus, will be on site for kids ages 3-7. Click here for more details.
  • Seattle Sketch Comedy Month at Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) from 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
  • Anchors Down Grand Opening (2016 NW Market St) from 7 p.m. Live music by Sean Majors. Drink Specials, local microbrews and plenty of specialty cocktails to boot. Wear your nautical stripes so they can take your picture! No cover charge. Click here to find out more.

Saturday, June 22:

  • North Beach Work Party (main entrance at 90th St. and 24th Ave. NW) from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  They will be building ivy composting platforms for the Earth Corps work parties later this summer. Wear weather-appropriate layers that can get dirty.  Tools, gloves, and guidance will be provided. Bring snacks and water if you need them, but there are no facilities at the park.   • Ballard Community Blood Drive from from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (closed 12-1). The bloodmobile will be parked in front of JoAnn Fabrics on 57th St NW. To sign up, please contact 1-800-398-7888 or email schedule@psbc.org Stop by and save a life!
  • Sustainable Ballard Open House at Ballard Library (5614 22nd Ave NW) from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Learn how their new projects are coming: little free libraries, 7 wonders of ballard bike tour, legislation for sustainability, ballard sprouts.   • Customer Appreciation Day at the RE Store (1440 NW 52nd St) from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join in the fun and help celebrate their 20th Anniversary. Sales, free food and fun will be happening all day. Click here for more information.

  • Open Studio Night at Ballard Metal Arts/X-ray Auto (1122 NW 46th St) from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.. Join them for an evening of art craft, demos, and light refreshments. Click here for more details.

  • Ballard Summer Solstice Soiree at Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th St ) from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. The event will be an evening of music by Del Rey and Steve James, with Suzy Thompson and “Four”. Ticket prices start from $20 and can be purchased here.
  • Vikings for a Cause Event at 2 Bit Saloon (4818 17th Ave NW) from 8 p.m. The night will feature Brad Yeager and the Night Terrors, We Say Bang and White City Graves. $5 suggested donation to go to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Click here to check out their Facebook event.

Sunday, June 23:

  • Ballard Classic Home Tour from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This year’s tour features seven previously unseen vintage Ballard residences of unique character and modern livability. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here or at the REStore, Secret Garden Bookshop, Johnson & Johnson Antiques and Sunset Hill Green Market. All tickets must be exchanged for the tour booklet on June 23 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Sunset Hill Community Clubhouse (3003 NW 66th St). The tour is the biggest fundraiser for the Ballard Historical Society each year. For more information click here.

  • Pepper Proud songwriter and guitarist on the patio at Café Bambino (405 NW 65th St) from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.

  • Celebrate North Seattle Event at the Oak Tree Plaza Parking Lot (10004 Aurora Ave N) from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. All are invited to a fun-filled afternoon featuring live music, carnival games, bounce houses, local businesses with interactive booths, local artists, food trucks and great giveaways!
